What started as a “How's your day going?” conversation between new friends quickly led to…”wait, we’d LOVE to help you with that!”. Ink Built is deeply committed to helping organizations who support our communities and the environment. Sometimes that is through monetary donations, but in others, like the Project Homeless Connect Day Center, it is using our design training, time and resources to create supportive spaces for those who need it most. Hearing some of the challenges our neighbors face everyday to access safe and healthy housing, we set out alongside Project Homeless Connect Washington County to reimagine a daytime resource center to provide a safe respite for folx who need it most. In this Trauma-Informed day center, guests will have access to laundry, showers, restrooms, lounge space, dining areas with meals and beverages provided. Most importantly they will have access to a team of people who can help support their journey and have a safe place to connect with friends. The Day Center is designed to allow it to serve as a severe weather shelter.

This new center will replace a cramped single-family home that is currently being used to provide these services, and will enable Project Homeless Connect to provide accessibility, safety, and support for many more neighbors facing the loss of housing in Hillsboro and Washington County.  Our team provided pro bono design services to provide a concept design that is enabling the client to raise the funds necessary to bring this project to reality; and we couldn’t be more excited!
