NATE EMBER
Principal Architect
(he/him)
Nate was born and raised in Ida-Ho-o! Somehow, he met this wicked smarty pants, married them, and together they fled the ever-advancing suburbia for the ever-green forests and bikeable glory of Cascadia. As it turns out, he is this phenomenal combo of farm boy/hipster/punk/professional, so of course found Portlandia to be a perfect fit; one moment discussing the intricacies and advantages of central heat pump water heating systems, and the next bustin’ out some Skee-lo flow or air drumming to Blink 182. He put in over a decade of talent and dedication at SERA Architects where he killed it, growing from intern to natural leader among some talented veterans in the field. Nate is now a licensed Architect in Oregon with more than 15 years under his belt; with wide-ranging skills from the theoretical to the technical.
But his real passions lie in collaborating with others, ‘cuz that’s where the best ideas pour out of our brains and into the light. He believes there are solutions to all problems and they can totes be found if we stop: collaborate, and listen. From leading small teams to big community groups, consensus is where it’s at; so long as there’s two turntables and a microphone.
The consummate idealist, Nate is always evolving, learning, bobbing and weaving and transforming himself and the world around him. His head is one hot mess of all the urgent shit that needs to get done to save the world and its most vulnerable people. But no bigs, he’ll just geek out on some spreadsheets and get that shit organized. Wanna talk affordable housing innovation for the people, or maybe the profound lyrical potentials of hip-hop poetry, or just building your own electric car with a bangin’ stereo to boot?, Just give the guy a smooth drinking beer and pick his brain. You'll be glad you did.
