Environmental Commitment

Climate change is real. Regenerative design is imperative to the future of our planet.

It’s crystal clear at this point just how much we humans have seriously messed up this precious blue ball that is our one and only starship Earth. Everything we extract, consume, and dump carelessly back into it is undermining our own future, our ability to thrive as a healthy and beneficial species. We also know it doesn’t have to be this way. Nature demonstrates how to live in closed loops, giving back as much or more than one takes, and the term biophilia means learning from nature.

At Ink Built, we believe that design can never be called good or great if it doesn’t strive to be less extractive, more efficient, and less harmful. In fact, we believe that the paradigm of making places and spaces should be flipped from what it is now, to one that mimics nature as it provides more benefits than drawbacks beyond the blink of human existence and throughout the long view of time. Not only would this prioritize livability for future generations of us, this mindset and practice would transform us as people here and now; making us more collaborative, more generous, and more joyful.

While there are almost too many aspects to address at once, we’re taking intentional steps to support change in ways that create the greatest impact and are most relevant to our work.

  • We have signed on to the AIA 2030 Commitment to reduce the net energy consumed by buildings to zero by 2030.

  • We are ILFI members as well as have LEED and LFA accredited professionals.

  • And while we know actions speak louder than words, we also know that money talks so we decided to put our money where our mouth is and we pledged to 1% For The Planet. This means we donate 1% of our gross revenue to support local non-profit organizations that help keep our waters clean and our forests green. This year we are honored to have been able to make donations to support some pretty incredible organizations.

Nature demonstrates how to live in closed loops, giving back as much or more than one takes.
